Stephen Mann’s path has always followed the quiet logic of curiosity. Trained in mathematics and computer science at Stevens Institute of Technology, with advanced degrees from the University of Maryland, and Georgia Tech, he spent his career building early technologies that helped shape the digital world—including Peachtree Software and Pegasus Imaging Corp.  He is a longtime member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

His writing grows from the same questions that guided his technical work: how systems evolve, how intelligence emerges, and what responsibility creators bear for what they bring into the world. Now retired, he writes with the freedom to explore those questions without constraint.

He lives with his wife, surrounded by three children and seven grandchildren—each with their own opinion about where his stories should go next.
